UNLEAVENED BREAD RECIPE - ALMOND BREADS


 

  ALMOND BREADS

        1/2 c. butter

        2 1/3 c. flour

        1/3 c. sugar

        1-2 T. cold water

        1 beaten egg

        1/2 c. each chopped almonds and sugar mixed together

        Cut butter into flour as for pastry. Stir in sugar. Work in water until dough sticks together. Let rest 2 hours. Roll out 1/2 in. thick. Brush with egg.

        Sprinkle with almond-sugar mixture. Cut strips 1/2 in. wide. Cut each strip diagonally into 2 in. cookies.

        Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 8-10 min. cool on rack
